Sparkling Rose De Pinot "AFRO-dite" is a collaboration project of Bertony Faustin (winemaker) & Sadé Beasley (contempoarary artist). Each bottle adorns a hang tag with 3 different images of "AFRO-dite" that were commisioned by Bertony. 

A portion of the proceeds will go towards funding the Oregon Dove Scholarship established by the Pi Alpha Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, INC. which was awarded to its first recipient in 2001. It has since been awarded to several service oriented students completing high school and transitioning into college.

Inspiration:By Sadé

In working on these paintings, I drew a lot of my inspiration from Sandro Botticelli’s painting, The Birth of Venus. Aphrodite’s pose for her birth from the sea heavily impacted my decision to play with its form and recreate what I would call the Afrodite Series; Khoudia, Imaan, and Liya. Each Afrodite work depicts a Black woman adorned with beautiful natural hair in different styles and textures, hence the name choice of “Afro”dite.

Being the goddess of love, I painted Afrodite in such a way that her viewer would fall in love with her each time they looked at her. Each work needed to evoke the power she had for making anyone fall in love. I also wanted her beauty to stand apart from any other depiction of what Aphrodite would traditionally resemble- she, like Bertony’s wine, needed to be unique and invigorating.

It began with dedication... and 96 acres of land in Central Kentucky. The land was bought and inhabited by freed slaves. 

In 1865 the settlement became known as Sleettown, named for three African American brothers: Henry, Preston, and George. 

To us, Sleettown represents the struggle to achieve things throught to be beyond your means. It reflects the hard work and perserverence you put into something to call your own. 

Honor those who devote their lives to the noble struggle to achieve their dreams.
