Mel Archuleta, founder of Bar Carlo, is back at the OG Crick!
Founded in 2008, Bar Carlo has become a popular Southeast Portland staple. Inspired by Mel’s Mexican American heritage, it’s known for it’s flavorful, inventive, & comfort driven dishes.
Her cooking pulls from her southern California roots, shaped by a childhood built between San Diego and Tijuana. Bar Carlo has built its reputation on food that feels both vibrant & familiar.

Tropical fruits & Mexican cheeses
Authentic cheeses from Salem based Mexican creamery, Don Froylan & fruits like jicama, papaya, & pineapple, seasoned w/ chili, lime, & salt
Signature french toast inspired by flavors of flan with spiced pilocillo syrup
Salsa tossed corn tortilla chips baked with queso chihuahua, topped w/ crisp pork carnitas, crema mexicana, onion, radish, & cilantro, served with eggs, black beans, & guacamole
Communal seating. Tickets are sold by seat and seating is pre-assigned. Please note any groups at checkout so we can seat you together. Private 4-top tables available by inquiry. First glass of Abbey Creek wine, sangria, or mimosa included.
